Kitchen canopy cleaning — note: this is not TR19 compliance

Canopy and baffle filter cleaning for visible kitchen extract hoods. Different from full TR19 extract cleaning — make sure you know what you need.

Kitchen canopy cleaning covers the visible hood, baffle filters and the immediate plenum area. It is what most kitchens think of as "extract cleaning" but it is only the first 5% of the system. Insurers require full extract cleaning — canopy plus ductwork plus fan — to TR19 specification. If you book canopy cleaning expecting compliance, you will not get it.

What's included

Every visit, every time.

  • Canopy underside and stainless surfaces degreased and sanitised
  • Baffle filters removed, soak-tank cleaned and refitted
  • Drip tray and grease channel cleared
  • Plenum chamber immediately above the filters cleaned where accessible
  • Canopy lighting cleaned
  • Dated sign-off sheet and photo evidence
How it works

From enquiry to sign-off.

  1. 1. Confirm scope

We confirm whether you need canopy-only or full extract cleaning. If your goal is TR19 compliance, we redirect you to the full extract service.

  2. 2. Overnight clean

Filters out, soak-tank, canopy clean, filters back in. Typical canopy clean is 2–4 hours per hood.

  3. 3. Sign-off

Duty manager walk-round, dated checklist and photo log emailed within 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

Is canopy cleaning the same as TR19 compliance? +

No. Canopy cleaning covers the visible hood and filters only. TR19 compliance requires the full extract system — canopy plus ductwork plus fan — cleaned and certificated.

How often should the canopy be cleaned? +

Heavy-use kitchens: weekly or fortnightly. Moderate use: monthly. The canopy and baffles are the most heavily grease-loaded part of the system and need frequent attention.

Can canopy cleaning be done during the day? +

For dark kitchens and shutdown days, yes. For service-running kitchens it is out-of-hours only — chemicals and water do not mix with active prep.

Do you supply replacement baffle filters? +

Yes — we carry standard sizes and can replace damaged filters during the clean. Priced separately on quote.

Is this for kitchen canopies only? +

Yes. We do not clean awning canopies, retail canopies or outdoor pergolas. Kitchen extraction canopies only.
